The Big Battlefield Bike ride

PCB Design Service providers Routability and Total Board Solutions teamed up to donate a tandem to the Help for Heroes campaign, a charity formed by Bryn Parry, the cartoonist, and his wife Emma. The charity, www.helpforheroes.org.uk was launched on 1st October 2007 and has already raised over £5.5 million which will be used to build a swimming pool and hydrotherapy complex at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) in Headley Court, Epsom. The DMRC is the premier facility for the rehabilitation of injured Service personnel and
has been since the Second World War.

The tandem, from JDCycles.co.uk of Ilkley, will be used in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride which will see 300 cyclists crossing the beaches of Normandy, onto Dieppe, the Somme and finally to Dunkerque. The event will culminate in a gathering of this and other Big Bike Rides which will pass through the capital to the Cenotaph on 1st June.

Help for Heroes Campaign Update

Since donating a tandem for the Big Battlefield Bike Ride in May 2008 (see Archive) the Help for Heroes campaign successfully raised its initial target of £6 million early in the summer. The total now exceeds £10 million and is still climbing. This is testament to the generosity of the British public and industry and reflects the esteem in which our Forces are held.
